Travel Journal: Palm Beach

Salling & Co. was proud to be a sponsor of the Seventh Annual Kips Bay Decorator Showhouse Palm Beach Preview Event.  The chosen location for this year’s Showhouse was in the highly desirable “SoSo” area of West Palm Beach. Held on a stunningly beautiful South Florida night, the Preview Event brought together design professionals and afficionados for a sneak peek at the imaginative and luxurious work of 20-plus designers and architects from the East Coast and beyond, all to raise funds for Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club (NY) as well as the Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County.  The Showhouse’s expansive and beautifully decorated indoor and outdoor spaces were the perfect Palm Beach setting in which to sip champagne while catching up with old friends and making new ones.

We also had the pleasure of visiting the Palm Beach Atelier, a showcase for exceptional craftmanship located in the historic Paramount Building. According to Sarah Magness, celebrated interior designer and the Atelier’s founder, “This is truly what an atelier would have been one hundred years ago.”  Through her thoughtful and inspired curations, clients are introduced to a collection of amazing talents in the interior design industry in a setting they can aspire to living in!

While in Florida, we enjoyed amazing food, drink and company at The Colony, the quintessential Palm Beach boutique hotel Le Bilboquet , whose gorgeous courtyard we could have sat in all afternoon and La Goulue  an Upper East Side standard which fits equally well in Palm Beach.  

And as a truly special treat, we were given a tour of what must be the most exquisite private garden on Palm Beach.  With exceptional views over Palm Beach Lake Trail, the garden of the landmarked house is home to a collection of rare orchids and other unusual flora as well as native Florida plants and trees. Cultivated for over 30 years, the garden is a true passion project for its owner, and we were delighted to experience it!

Now back in the wintery Northeast, we’re dreaming of returning to the Palm Beaches soon!
